Trump Won! Get Over It!
It is remarkable to me that the main ones that are now refusing to fully accept the results of the November 8 presidential election are the main ones that were yelling fowl when then-presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that he would leave it to suspense whether he will accept the results of the election between him and Hillary Clinton. At that time, Mrs. Clinton immediately took offense and flatly stated, “That’s horrifying. That’s not the way our democracy works. We’ve been around 240 years. We’ve had free and fair elections. We’ve accepted outcomes when we may not have liked them.”
At that time, Mrs. Clinton and many of her supporters were thinking that the election was in the bag. She was up in the polls and the pundits were predicting that election night was going to be a very good night for Hillary. However, all of that went crashing down when three long-time Democratic states (Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania) went to Trump bursting the hopes of Hillary winning the presidency. Those three states were supposed to been a part of Hillary’s blue wall to block any chance of Trump winning the 270 electoral votes necessary for capturing the presidency. However, like the walls of Jericho, Hillary’s blue wall “came tumbling down.”
Then as soon as media reports projected that Trump would be America’s 45th president, the leftists went mad. Social media began to flutter with the hashtag #NotMyPresident and by the next morning as Hillary gave her concession speech, streets in several American cities became filled with protestors yelling chants of “F*uck Trump” and “Dump Trump.” These anti-Trump protestors blocked roads and highways determined to voice their strong distaste for the newly elected president. Unfortunately, the protests in Portland, Oregon erupted into violent riots. The Left quickly went from the state of denial into a state of rage.
The reaction from the college was just as astonishing as well as ludicrous. Texas A&M University offered “safe spaces” for students who were afraid of Trump’s victory. After election night, Hampshire College decided to stop flying the American flag. At Cornell University, they had a “cry-in,” the University of Michigan gave play-doh to students, and the University of Kansas provided therapy dogs.
At several campuses, many students walked out of their classes to show their complete disgust over the election results. One of the most notable walk-outs was at East Los Angeles College, in which about 200 students participated.
On a side note, there is a significant part of the student population of East Los Angeles College that is “undocumented.” The college’s mission states, “Ultimately, our mission is to advocate for the advancement and accessibility of undocumented students into higher education.” Of course, they would be unhinged when President-Elect Trump campaigned to enforce our immigration laws and to secure our borders. Trump has unequivocally stated, “A nation without borders is not a nation.”
There were many other school walk-outs such as the one at East Los Angeles which included high schools as well. In Silver Spring, Maryland, eight-hundred students from Montgomery Blair High School participated in an anti-Trump walk-out.
Several Hollywood and media figures also made uproars as well. Van Jones, CNN commentator and former Obama administration official, claimed that Trump’s victory was a result of a “whitelash.” Miley Cyrus posted a YouTube video of her in tears bemoaning the election results. Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar of The View spent several minutes of their post-election episode blasting Trump and inferred sexism plus FBI interference were the reason for his victory.
On top of all of this in a move reminiscent of the Bush v. Gore recounts, Green Party candidate Jill Stein called for recounts in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. However, Trump’s victory margins are too wide that any recount would not significantly change the outcome in either of those states.
Eight years ago when Obama won the presidency, there were no protests or riots across the country. There were no organized walk-outs by college or high school Republicans and there still would not have been any even if Hillary had won the election on November 8 because conservatives know how to be gracious in defeat and magnanimous in victory.
Donald J. Trump won the election and he will be our next American president. School walk-outs, protests and riots are not going to change that fact and the only thing that will happen with a recount is to relive Trump’s pulverizing of Hillary. Trump won! Get over it! See you in 2020!
