The Church of Beysus is Now a Thing as Beyonce Buys a New Orleans Church

People have joked about the Church of Beysus for years with at least a decade of memes of Beyonce in religious garb where she’s being worshiped by her fans. Art imitates life and she’s exhibited some of this imagery in her performances lately, notably her 2017 Grammy performance. We’re not sure if this has gotten to her head but reports are now showing that Bey just purchased her very own church in the Garden District of New Orleans.

Situated at the corner of Camp and 7th Streets, literally blocks away from her sister Solange, the 100+ year old church is just waiting for some TLC from the Grammy winning artist as it hasn’t been used in years. There are many things artists spend money investing in, churches rarely tend to be one of them.

The church is zoned as “limited non-residential uses such as places of worship, historic neighborhood commercial establishments, and recreational facilities that are compatible with surrounding residential neighborhoods.” The listing online states that the property “affords many possibilities for redevelopment as a single, multi- family, remaining as a Church, possibility of a commercial usage or many other possibilities.”

While there are those out there that rap about buying the whole block, it looks like Bey is trying to do just that. The entity that purchased the $850,000 church is the Noble Jones Trust which also owns a home on Saint Ann Street where Bey, her sister and Mama Tina have been spotted for New Orleans. Then there’s the $2.5 million home blocks away from the church linked to her Parkwood Entertainment company.

Well, The Knowles seem to be well on their way on becoming real estate moguls, especially in New Orleans. The two not long ago just purchased an $88 million home in Bel-Air they’ve been working on and still purchasing property across the country. In the words of Lyfe Jennings, “must be nice.”
