Nicki Minaj Reveals The Truth of What Happened with ‘Motorsport’ + Twitter DRAGS Quavo for Knowing the Truth & Refusing to Defend Her

Today marks the long awaited musical return of Nicki Minaj and fans even declared it #NickiDay, as the trending hashtag managed to reach number one on Twitter for majority of the day. And while the release of her new songs Barbie Tingz and Chun Li, have been getting quite the buzz, it’s her interview with Beats 1 radio’s Zane Lowe that has people talking.

It is no secret that since Cardi B‘s major breakout success last year, that people have been pitting her against Nicki, though they both stated countless of times that they have no beef with one another, but there is a problem there somewhere. When Nicki and Cardi both appeared on Motorsport, the Internet was set ablaze as more Nicki vs. Cardi comparisons were sparked and Nicki finally shed some light on what went down:

The only thing with Cardi that really really hurt my feelings was the first interview she did after ‘Motorsport’ came out. I remember when I first came in the game, if a female of that stature had done a feature with me on it, I would only be singing their praises and saying thank you. The first interview she did after ‘Motorsport’ came out, it just really hurt me. She looked so aggravated and angry and the only thing she said was, ‘Oh, I didn’t hear that. I didn’t hear that verse.’ I was like what?

In an interview in November with the UK’s Capital Xtra Cardi stated that the song was different for Nicki’s part:

When I heard the track, her verse wasn’t finished — well, it’s not the verse that is out right now — and Quavo told me to get on the song and I just felt like it was a perfect opportunity for me to be on a track that’s big like that.

Before the interview, Nicki tried to defuse the allegations about she and Cardi having beef and even asked Quavo for help but felt “ambushed” because when it was time to defend her, he refused and said, “I would go on Twitter and back you up if you were my girl:”

It hurt my feelings to know that people would watch me be slaughtered and not one person will step in to say the truth. They will run with the lie, they’ll allow people to run with the lie because it’s entertaining to make Nicki seem like the bad guy. Up until this recent interview that she did, I had never seen her show me genuine love in an interview. I could just imagine how many girls wish they could have been on a song with Nicki Minaj, and I’m not saying it in a cocky way, but yikes. It’s because of the Nicki hate parade that she felt the comfortability to address me in that manner.

Of course that was all Nicki’s fans needed to hear and they instantly went in on Quavo in a series of tweets:

While others weren’t buying it:
