Michael Blackson to Kanye West: If Slavery Was a Choice then So Was Your Wife’s Paris Robbery

Earlier this week, rapper, producer and fashion designer, Kanye West, set the Internet on fire when he stated that slavery was a choice:

When you hear about slavery for 400 years … For 400 years? That sounds like a choice. You were there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all. It’s like we’re mentally imprisoned.

It was in that moment when Van Lathan went completely off on Kanye and read him for the music gawds:

While you are making music and being an artist and living the life that you’ve earned by being a genius, the rest of us in society have to deal with these threats to our lives…frankly, I’m disappointed, I’m appalled, and brother, I am unbelievably hurt by the fact that you have morphed into something to me, that’s not real.

Many celebrities including John Legend and Chris Brown have all voiced their opinions on the matter and now comedian and actor Michael Blackson has decided to chime in.

The comedian says he’s seen first hand how slavery wasn’t a choice after visiting the Slave Castles in his native Ghana and gave a lesson about how African slaves were captured at gunpoint.

He then went on to say that Yeezy’s statement would be he equivalent of saying Kim Kardashian chose to get robbed at gunpoint in Paris…and he has a point:
