Rapper XXXTentacion’s untimely death at age 20 has served as a wake up call for many about the reality of living a hard knock life for a lack of better words, but apparently not for enough according to former NBA player Matt Barnes. He went on Instagram Live to speak on another rapper he feels is at risk of putting his own life in danger trying to live a hard life at a young age which as he says, simply isn’t worth it. That rapper is Tekashi69. He dropped out in the 8th grade, sold drugs to keep his household afloat and while he has some legal issues, he was nowhere near as hard as XXXtentacion. You’d never know it from the feuds he keeps up with rappers like Trippie Redd and Chief Keef, people who have actually done some things to other people and served time.

First, Barnes said Tekashi69 is “running in every hood, talking sh*t to everybody. Bro must have a death wish, man, cause these motherf**kers are not playing. They eat for a living. They eat motherf**kers like this for a living. You gonna end up running into somebody REAL that’s gonna turn your lights out man. All for what? All for popularity or for some likes?”

He went on to discuss other issues in the black community which include violence inflicted on each other. Keep in mind there were riots in L.A. last night over the death of XXXTentacion when he was killed by someone other than the police.

“Y’all know I go hard on cops killing unarmed minorities, mostly blacks…Only because they’re paid to protect & serve, not to play judge jury & executioner! But we all know the bigger problem is we killing each other… Daily!!” Barnes captioned the Instagram message.

”We can point the finger [and] try to blame whomever but that’s facts!! We need to cherish this life, cause we only get one.. Stop doing s**t to fit in, to impress others or sell records.”
