Lt. General McMaster to Replace Flynn as Trump National Security Adviser
President Trump has announced a replaced for recently resigned National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Many rumors had been going around about who President Trump would pick as the replacement, but ultimately it came to be H. R. McMaster.
Lieutenant General H. R. McMaster is spoken highly of as a brilliant tactician and strategist. However, it is also widely known that McMaster is not just one to fall in line but rather speak his mind on important issues. This goes handily with the Trump administration as he has been seeking people who are the best in their fields rather than “yes men” who would agree with everything being said.
McMaster has served in several leadership positions since the initial Gulf War in the 1990’s. He is also well versed in historical battles having studied them thoroughly. However, he also acknowledges that every situation can be different and tactics may need to be more fluid depending on the situation.
Lt Gen McMaster graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1984, but went on to become something of a scholar of military history.
He earned in MA in history from the University of North Carolina in 1994, and taught history at the military academy for two years, before being awarded a PhD in American history in 1996.
That same year, he published a popular military history of the Vietnam War, “Dereliction of Duty”, which was deeply critical of the decision-making process in Washington during the era.
It is clear that McMaster will bring some much appreciated experience and trusted intellect to the current administration.
