LIVING FOR MORE DRAMA: Joanne the Scammer Show Coming to Netflix
It’s very interesting that just last night, my brother Mac asked “What happened with Joanne the Scammer?,” and just hours later I found his answer as I was informed that she is about to get her own show!
Branden Miller, who portrays Joanne, spoke with transgender rights activist, author and former staff editor of People magazine’s website, Janet Mock, where he revealed the news.
Branden stated that “someone from Netflix” was currently writing the show and added:
“If you know Joanne on Instagram, there are little snippets of her life right in the middle of a scam. So I’m capturing that. Instagram gives you one minute of that, the show will give you the whole storyline.”
When asked if it would be in a sitcom format he said:
“We’re trying to do that. I can’t even speak that far ahead because I don’t even know. All I know is we start off with her being married to this rich white older guy, or maybe he’s not even older. And he drops her, so she’s trying to get to that place again of being Caucasian – whatever she thinks that is.”
Branden also spoke about transphobia, racial identity, and meeting celebrities like Blac Chyna, Solange and Katy Perry. Listen to the full podcast here
