LISTEN: Jhene Aiko Goes on a Psychedelic Journey with New Album ‘Trip’

The wait is over! After a 3 year solo absence, singer-songwriter Jhene Aiko has released her long-awaited second studio album, Trip. Consisting of 22 tracks, the album is described as an “epic, psychedelic journey beyond the boundaries of R&B.”

The album features appearances from Brandy, Big Sean, Swae Lee, Kurupt and her daughter Namiko Love. Take a listen to the album here:

To accompany the record, Jhene also released a 23-minute short filmed titled Trip, which was written alongside Girl’s Trip writer, Tracy Oliver.

In the mini movie Jhene plays Penny, a poet who heads to a quiet, secluded area by a beach to write. There, she meets a stranger named Dante, who persuades the poet to take a trip with him.

Although she’s still mourning the loss of her brother, she agrees to join the stranger on his journey and their romance quickly blossoms. But things quickly change in the process:

Teonny Spears

26 year-old Teonny Spears, is from a small town in Louisiana called Ferriday, where he currently lives. A fan of Pop music, Teonny began writing at a small age and in 2005, he began blogging for fun on Myspace about his favorite artists.

After building a love for entertainment news, he began working for Defglam.com, and launched his own weekly show in 2009 called EnterSHADEment Talk for 8 seasons and over 200 episodes before ending the show in 2012. He shortly left Defglam in the same year.
