LISTEN: Frank Ocean Talks Masculinity Struggle in ‘Chanel’ Featuring A$AP Rocky

Once again fashion and music collide as Frank Ocean releases his new single Chanel. Frank premiered the song during the second episode of his blonded RADIO show on Beats 1 late last night.

The song finds Frank openly speaking about his lover, who has long been rumored to be French model Willy Cartier:

“My guy pretty like a girl /And he got fight stories to tell / I see both sides like Chanel / See on both sides like Chanel.”

There’s also a remix version of the song featuring rapper A$AP Rocky, who uses his verse to share what went wrong with his relationship with model Chanel Iman, confirming that he did indeed cheat on her:

“Green and blue hundreds turning tale /Green and blue, money colored tales /Was such a good guy to Chanel / ’til she caught me sleeping with Charel”

In a world where a coming of age film about a black gay man won Best Picture at the 2017 Academy Awards, seeing Frank be completely honest with himself in a judgemental world makes him even more lovable. To stand true to youself while everyone around you see’s otherwise is the most couragious thing anyone could do, and for Frank to be in the world of Hip Hop, he’ll always have my support.
