Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN.’ Gets Certified Platinum After Only Three Weeks

After only three weeks of being released, Kendrick Lamar‘s DAMN. has been certified platinum fir shipments of over 1 million copies. His record label, Interscope, took to Twitter to announce the news to his fans:

Released on April 14, 2017, DAMN. debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart with sales of 603,000 equivalent album units, the largest debut of the year. In pure album sales, the album sold 353,000 copies. In its second week, it remained at #1 where it sold an additional 238,000 equivalent album units.

 

Since it’s release, DAMN. has received widespread critical acclaim form music critics, with an average score of 96 out of 100 based on 26 reviews. Neil McCormick of The Telegraph even called Kendrick “a future all-time great in fill command of his powers.”

Consisting of 15 tracks, the albm features appearances from Zacari, U2 and Rihanna.

The album’s lead single, HUMBLE. reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 but was dethroned this week by Bruno Mars’ That’s What I Like and now sits at #3. DNA, which may serve as Kendrick’s second single, is currently at the #7 position on the Billboard Hot 100.
