Kanye West is Fanning Out Over Trump and the Internet is Not Having It

Love him or hate him, Kanye West not only will be heard, but he is going to d*mn well be discussed in the process. Maybe it’s because of the time he had his mouth wired shut where he saved up all he had to say but he was the wrecking ball long before Miley Cyrus. When Jay-Z first met him he saw him as just a producer before finally buckling and signing him as an artist so he’s been pushing his way to the forefront since day one, so his support of Donald Trump would be no different. We are all being forced into a political discussion about what apparently is and is not acceptable today in the black community.

Last week he wrote one simple tweet, “I like the way Candace Owens thinks.” Candace Owens is a black Conservative and Outreach Director for Turning Point USA who had just been featured in a viral video speaking against victimhood. While I am not a fan of Candace’s despite being a Conservative myself, even a broken clock is right twice a day. We all have the ability to overcome our pasts and that rang true to Kanye who with his recent revelation about struggling with opioids, obviously has demons of his own to deal with, but then again, who doesn’t? His mental state is being questioned now as if one of the biggest rappers out, Lil Wayne hasn’t been on a self destructive path for God knows how long, or that Jay-Z isn’t currently being raked over the coals for cheating on Beyonce. Has Kanye cheated on Kim? No. He’s always been the successful outsider and by the way, he did so without engaging in illegal behavior, for those holding his sins up against that of Jay-Z’s as though one is more morally sound than the other.

Anyway, Kanye went on to posting pictures of himself in Make America Great Again hats courtesy of President Trump and even stated his was signed. The backlash has persisted since with the New York Post reporting he’s lost 10 million followers over the last week, down to 18 million followers from 28 million, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton crawled from under his rock of obscurity to say that this is why President Obama called him a jackass and even Jordan Peele announced the followup to his film Get Out after a tweet from Kanye showing his home saying “Does this look like the sunken place to you?” That was in response to a joke from his wife Kim Kardashian where she said he did his best thinking outside of the “sunken slace.” (While funny, we don’t exactly think that’s a joke she should have participated in.) John Legend is on a twitter tirade as we speak explaining all the reasons Kanye is wrong but in his defense has come rappers Chance the Rapper and Lil Yachty. Chance said “Black people don’t have to be Democrats” and Lil Yachty said “Kanye West is still sonically the Goat.” He’s later said he was backing out of the conversation. This all can be summed up by Fox News’ Jesse Watters who said “Kim Kardashian broke the internet and Kanye fixed it.” I’m sure even the people who unfollowed Kanye are still tuned in to see what he’s talking about. The man is a legend one way or the other and that will not be changing despite who he supports.
