GLAM SHOTS: Zendaya is Fierce & Talks Having Power in FIRST ‘Vogue’ Cover Shoot
Since her debut on Disney in Shake It Up, I have watched Zendaya grow from a beautiful young lady to a young fashion icon, and she isn’t even 21 yet. From various best dressed lists to forming her own style, Zendaya was bound to catch the eye of Anna Wintour sooner or later and I’m glad that it’s the former.
Zendaya covers the July 2017 issue of Vogue magazine, which is PERFECT as it is my birthday month, so someone better buy me a copy! For her FIRST Vogue cover, the 20-year-old actress and singer wears a sheer and feathered Calvin Klein 205W39NYC dress as she demands your attention:
Inside her cover story titled Zendaya Actor, Activist, It Girl, Zendaya speaks on how she wanted to portray her character in the hit Disney Channel show K.C. Undercover, having power and using it, and her initial reaction to Giuliana Rancic’s comment a few years ago.
In her Mario Testino shot photoshoot, she also models Alexander Mcqueen, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Karina Salmeron – just to name a few. Take a look at a few of the excerpts as well as photos from her shoot afterwards:
ON HOW SHE WANTED HER CHARACTER TO BE ON K.C. UNDERCOVER: “I wanted to make sure that she wasn’t good at singing or acting or dancing. That she wasn’t artistically inclined. I didn’t want them to all of a sudden be like, ‘Oh, yeah, and then she sings this episode!’ No. She can’t dance; she can’t sing. She can’t do that stuff. There are other things that a girl can be….I want her to be martial arts–trained. I want her to be able to do everything that a guy can do. I want her to be just as smart as everybody else. I want her to be a brainiac.”
ON HAVING POWER & HOW EVERYONE SHOULD USE THEIRS: “A lot of people don’t realize their power. I have so many friends who say yes to everything or feel like they can’t stand up for themselves in a situation. No: You have the power.”
ON HER FIRST REACTION TO GIULIANA RANCIC’S STATEMENT: “I went to my room, gathered my thoughts, and wrote something down, which is what two teachers would have wanted me to do.”
