Almost one year after the release of his ninth studio album Major Key (July 2016), DJ Khaled is prepping to release his 10th studio album, Grateful and he’s brought his son Asahd along for the ride.

Along with appearing on the album’s cover art and singles, Asahd serves as the album’s executive producer. While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in March Khaled explained why he made his son the album’s producer:

“He is credited as executive producer, and his attorney has his points or royalties, everything. Listening to the songs, going over the business part of it, [deciding] if the vocals are right, if the beats are right, if the energy’s right. When he [rocks and grins], those are smash hit records, when he [looks deep in thought], that’s the real serious records but hits with substance. It’s a vibe, you know what I mean? Believe it or not, the poops and the throw-ups are super blessings. Those are actually the real good ones. He actually threw up on me while I was mixing and working on “Shining”, and when he threw up on me, that [was] a blessing.”

So far three singles have been released: the album’s lead single Shining featuring Jay Z & Beyonce, the official second single I’m the One featuring Justin Bieber, American rappers Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne and the Drake assisted To the Max.

Bryson Tiller, Rihanna, Nas, Future, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Fat Joe, Betty Wright, Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, and Travis Scott also appear on the record.
