Chance the Rapper is Turning Down Tens of Millions in Advances

There might not be another artist as dedicated to their craft without compromise as Chance the Rapper. Following his Grammy performance last Sunday, he has reportedly received tons of offers to be signed as he’s an independent artist. These are multi-million dollar offers due to the fact that he changed the entire mood of the show by mixing hip hop and gospel at of all places, the Grammys. That simply does not happen, but he’s happy doing this without major label backing. He’s all about artist empowerment which to be honest would be diminished if he gave in and got signed. It’s a commendable trait as the industry is such that people are willing to do anything for the right check.

“He was turning down $5 million advances before, and now it’s like $10 million,” a source told the New york Post. “He may do something with Apple, but not a label per se … He is going to remain independent.”

Chance, you’ve got our respect and definitely our support. Keep it up.
