#BLACKEXCELLENCE: ‘Moonlight’ Wins Best Motion Picture Drama At The 2017 Golden Globes

I have some wonderful news to share with all of our LGBT and Black readers out there. The film Moonlight has won the Golden Globe award for Best Motion Picture – Drama!

Written and directed by Barry Jenkins, based on the play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue by Tarell Alvin McCraney, the film stars Trevante Rhodes, André Holland, Janelle Monáe, Ashton Sanders, Jharrel Jerome, Naomie Harris and Mahershala Ali.

Moonlight is a coming-of-age story of a young black man named Chiron living in Miami, who struggled with being himself.

Upon release, the film received universal acclaim and grossed $13 million at the box office with a limited release.
