ABC Announces Eight-Episode ‘Roseanne’ Revival for 2018
Though it was just speculation, ABC confirmed that Roseanne will be returning for an eight-episode revival after being off air for 20 years. The orginal cast including Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Lecy Goranson (Becky #1) will all be returning for the show.
While Sarah Chalke, who took over the role of Becky from 1993 to 1997 will also appear in the series as a different character, it is unclear if The Big Bang Theory‘s Johnny Galecki will reprise his role as David at this time.
Glenn Quinn, who portrayed Becky’s husband and David’s older brother Mark Healy, passed away in 2002.
Originally broadcast on ABC from 1988 to 1997, the show revolved around the Conners, an Illinois working-class family, where it reached #1 in the Nielsen ratings, becoming the most watched television show in the United States from 1989 to 1990. The show remained in the top four for six of its nine seasons, and in the top twenty for eight seasons.
Just two months ago, John Goodman reunited with his TV daughter where they both expressed interest in returning for a reboot of the show:
They also did a spoof where Sara, as Darlene, revealed that she was a lesbian:
I’ve been a fan of Roseanne since it started airing on Nick at Nite in 2003 and with the revival of shows like The X Files, Gilmore Girls and Will and Grace, it’s a great chance for fans to catch up with the Conners in today’s era.
Will you be tuning in?
